Because of many years the only time I could MUSH my Dogs was in the darkness of night I have developed a system for venturing out at night. Due to daylight savings time and of course the days naturally being shorter in the Fall/Winter with my work schedule at the time that's why if I wanted to exercise my Dogs the only time would be available is in the darkness. I used flashlights to see but still found other bike riders and trail users approaching me quickly without to much visible warning. As of course me with the Dogs on each side of my Dog cart/bike I am a bit wider than the other trail users so it is more challenging to navigate especially with this other trail traffic. Adding the darkness makes it even more challenging. Additionally the Dogs will occasionally pickup on a scent (usually a nocturnal animal) and blast off which forced me to slow them way down as I was out running the flashlight and couldn't tell what they we chasing. These are some of the reasons why I went looking for better ways than a flashlight to see in the dark. Hence the Night Vision Goggles.
Today there is still a need to run the Dogs at night as it gives me the opportunity to start the MUSHing season earlier in the year as temperatures start cooling at night typically in early Fall, enough to start their training. During the day this time of year it would still be too warm! The Dogs don't seem to mind as they LOVE to run anytime morning, noon, or night!! I have actually grown to really enjoy exploring the trail in the darkness of the night with the proper gear most importantly being Night-Vision goggles. This has become almost a staple part of our training and it is a great outing to do with the WooFDriver Pit Crew and with the addition of Night Vision cameras and video equipment we have so much fun documenting and capturing this incredible time on film! This section is all about how we do it!!
